About

Sierra Photography consists of a two person team, Daniel Clark (of DanJClarkPhoto.com) and Deanna Jones (that’s me, I’m website-less). Photography has been in both of our lives since childhood. My mother is a photographer, so I was exposed to cameras as soon as I could hold one. In my favorite family video of Daniel, he is around two years old, lifting a plastic camera toward the videographer and saying “Cam-mer. Cam-mer.” He jokes that clip will be featured on his E! True Hollywood Story someday.

Daniel and I met in our early teens. He had been making art, including photography, for a while by then. As I was admiring his work, I offhandedly mentioned that I wished I was able to take photos as beautiful as his. He said “Why don’t you, then?” Without a good answer, I went home and began to photograph with my mother’s equipment.

After high school, Daniel and I went separate ways. He attended the University of Nevada, Reno and graduated with a B.A. in Photography, minor in Journalism. He now photographs for the major metropolitan newspaper in our area. I attended university for X-Ray, and maintain photography as a hobby. A bit before Daniel's college graduation, we came into face-to-face contact for the first time since our teens. The short version is that we fell in love, and are going to be married in May of 2012. I like to think we are a true story of how art brings people together.

Photography is our passion, and we are lucky to be able to work together to share it with you. Thank you so much for stopping by!

Besides creating, what other hobbies do you have?

Daniel and I really enjoy the outdoors. We like to camp, fish, ride 4-wheelers, basically anything that gets us out of the city for a little while.

Where does your inspiration come from?

I can't really speak for Daniel on this one, but my inspiration comes from whatever is around me at the time. I really believe that there is something worth photographing in every situation, every environment. I try to keep my camera with me on every outing just in case something catches my eye.

Where would you like to be in 10 years?

Daniel's degree is in photography with a minor in journalism. He chose these courses of study because he is interested in photojournalism, and in ten years I really think he'd like to be a staff photographer at a major newspaper. As photography isn't what I went to school for, it's hard for me to say where I'd like to be in ten years as far as our art goes. Hopefully it will still be something that I can maintain in addition to my career in the medical field.

About

Been active creatively forever. I love animals, nature and enjoy everything that has to do with crafts. I love to recycle and work with reclaimed items.

More

Hello, my name is Nathalie

I’m 47 and I own 3 shops on Etsy and I must say it’s a lot of work but I love it and it a full time job for me. And I can say that it is starting to pay a lot more then the first year. It's worth all the energy that I put in. But here is why I'm into eco-friendly and recycling business. Even at a very young age I use to keep everything for a later use, just in case you know. That was recycling but I did not know it.. In my teenage years , my Mom was alone to take care of me and so I tried to help out by sewing my own clothes the best I could and besides I was taller then all the pants she bought , so I had to use a lot of imagination to fit material to my pants she had bought and make it fit together. Those were already my designer talents coming through. But I never would work as one until very late in my life because I had children of my own at a very young age and taught my children the importance of recycling, living simply so we do not waist, reduce our imprint on this earth and we lived strongly amongst these terms. And so life went on , they grew up , and 2 left, and I hope they took with them what I taught them. The jobs I did when I had the kids were waitressing, bar maid , I use to work in flower shops, until I decided I would try my luck at designing, but I never took a course, but what I did is I take old but still good clothes, old material, at salvation’s Army and flea market and other places like these, and I would actually make clothes out of them. I use to sell my clothes on consignment in 3 boutiques for 4 years. All was fine, until my back gave out, and then I got 3 major back surgeries, within 10 years . So I had to change my lifestyle. Anyways I stayed in the eco-friendly business only on a smaller scale My Etsy shops whether they are crochet, sewn items or jewelery, are all earth friendly.
Be well advised that when you buy a Recupefashion, BeautyRecycled product you get a 100% earth friendly eco product, and I am most proud to offer it to you.

About:

I am a lover of books, especially the vintage ones. I don't care what it is about, if the print is older than me, I want it. For instance, I own a book written entirely in short hand. Do I read short hand? No. So why do I own it? Because its age transforms it into something so much more than what it was when first printed. I feel like it holds so much more history than a new book that you could buy at Barnes & Noble.

Speaking of the newer books... Those I tend to destroy. I love making beautiful crafts out of the pages of books. And to me, it is a lot different when I can just go buy another copy of the book. Really, I am only giving that author & publishing co. more money anyways, so i don't think they mind.

My creations are inspired by the beautiful look of vintage books & the Victorian era. I love old buildings & libraries. And I could spend hours just staring at a particular shelf in my local library, which is filled with huge old tomes of our towns history and other beautiful vintage books.

The Interview:

Tell the readers about yourselfMy name is Courtney Rae; I'm addicted to coffee & words. I will be getting married in August 2012 & when I'm not working or planning the wedding I spend much of my free time reading & editing my fiancé’s novel & short stories.

Besides creating, what other hobbies do you have?Hmm... Besides creating... um... sleeping? Haha, pretty much all of my hobbies involve creating something. The only time I'm not creating is when I sleep, and even that is debatable. I love cooking & baking, writing poems, lyrics, short stories, screen plays & blogs. I also love interior design, & event planning & graphic design. But I do also enjoy reading, & playing board games with my fiancé. RISK is my all-time favorite board game, but my fiancé is less of a fan so we usually play Settlers of Catan, which is his favorite & my second favorite. I also love doing Sudoku puzzles when I have the time.

Where does your inspiration come from?Originally, my inspiration came from my wedding. We decided to have a book themed wedding with a very vintage style, drawing inspiration from the 1800's & earlier. I came up with many ideas & started creating many things, not all of which were a perfect fit for my own wedding, so I decided to open up BookCraft as a way to share those ideas with other brides. I continue to keep my mind fresh with new ideas by drawing inspiration from images of the Victorian era, old, huge libraries, old tomes & vintage classics. I try to create the perfect blend between rustic & elegant.

Where would you like to be in 10 years?
In 10 years, I would love to own a coffee shop, I have so many ideas & I am very excited to implement them. Though would really like to continue creating & selling on Etsy. Owning my own shop on Etsy has allowed me to spend time doing many of the things that I love doing: Crafting, marketing, graphic design, social media, copywriting, & yes, even accounting. They say there are two types of people, those that love English & those that love math, but I've always been a big fan of both & I love that Etsy allows me to spend time doing both.
